How long does it take to overcome a back injury? Print E-mail

The duration required to overcome a back injury depends on a couple of factors:
1. The age and relative fitness of the individual
2. The severity of the injury
3. Your willingness to avoid movements which aggravate  the injury
4. The level of recovery required

Generally speaking however most people should be pain free within the first two to four weeks, and back to their previous movement levels within 8 to 12 week, and then completely recovered in 3 to 6 months. A suitable Pilates program can speed this recovery and significantly reduce the risk of re-injury by ensuring that the muscles that support the spine, our core muscles, are healthy, strong and active.

Will Pilates help my Back Pain? Print E-mail
In short, "Yes". Pilates is excellent for managing and overcoming back pain. An effective Studio Pilates program can stabilise the injured segments of the spine, and gradually introduce movement as the injury heals and stabilises. Our Studio Pilates sessions work the body, integrating and strengthening the core muscles with each movement. Core strength provides support to the injured area enabling it to heal and reduces the likelihood of recurring injury.
